ltimate Staffing is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to support a growing technology company located in beautiful Scotts Valley, only minutes from Santa Cruz and just over the hill from Silicon Valley. This is an onsite position with a salary range of $125K to $145K.
This is an employee-owned company that designs, manufactures, and sells advanced controls solutions for industrial applications such as semiconductor, display, and solar fabrication equipment. Their controllers power billions of dollars of equipment in factories worldwide.
As a Sustaining Engineer at DDI, you will be an integral part of our operations team focused on ensuring the ongoing performance, reliability, and optimization of our electronic control systems and I/O equipment used in semiconductor processing. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee post-development activities, including maintenance, replacing and approving obsolescent components, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and technical support. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including development engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, document control and customer support, you will contribute to delivering exceptional products and maintaining our reputation for excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Obsolescent Component Management: Manage the replacement, qualification and documentation of obsolescent components
- Technical Support: Provide expert technical assistance to address technical questions from strategic volume suppliers, that are critical to solve in order to meet the product launch schedule.
- Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve complex technical issues related to control electronics, both independently and in collaboration with other teams.
- Root Cause Analysis: Conduct thorough root cause analyses of electronic failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for product enhancement, reliability improvement, and cost optimization, and lead efforts to implement these improvements.
- Design Generation: Analog and digital design, preferred experience with Orcad/Allegro, PCAD, Altium
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation, including specifications, design changes, and troubleshooting guidelines.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with development engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless product transitions and successful new product introductions.
- Change Management: Manage the implementation of design changes, firmware updates, and other modifications while adhering to quality and regulatory standards.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all control electronics products comply with relevant industry standards and regulations, participating in audits and reviews as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics, or a related field.
- 5 years of proven experience in sustaining engineering, preferably in complex electronic products.
- Identify and qualify obsolescence components
- Deep understanding of electronic control systems, I/O interfaces, and related semiconductor processing technologies.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving electronic issues at both system and component levels.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations governing semiconductor electronic control equipment.
- Experience with root cause analysis methodologies, such as Six Sigma or 8D.
- Strong problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
